How To Wear Marsala: Pantone Color of the Year 2015

Marsala. You've probably never heard of this particular color, but all we can say is WOW; it's the most breathtaking color. It's no surprise that Pantone has chosen it as the 2015 Color of the Year. Think ripe cranberries or a deep red wine color. It's a sensual color for sure and it makes you feel important. It's really a color for anyone trying to be bold and make a statement in a deep and thoughtful way. It's such a strong color that we don't recommend going over board with it. For example, choose a Marsala lip stick and pair it with a light colored top and bottoms. Marsala color nails would be fabulous as it isn't super bold like apple red, but it's still sophisticated. Try pairing Marsala with black like this fedora from Windsor. The two colors compliment each other very well. Marsala is a transformation color; you will feel like someone new when you're wearing it, so wear it with confidence!

We’re well into the New Year and thus well into make or break time for all the resolutions we’ve set. I’ve never been one for resolutions but I always vividly remember one year I did. My senior year of high school I resolved to use color in my makeup routine. I told myself that I would pick a color every month and it would be my task to learn to use that color in wearable and approachable ways. That first month I chose purple and a MAC eye shadow called Parfait Amour and my love for color in cosmetics only grew from there. Looking back I find it fitting that Pantone’s color of the year is Radiant Orchid, a sort of hybrid of Fuchsia and Purple. So In honor of my resolution all those years ago,  here are my favorite  products to rock radiant orchid in your beauty routine, try them individually or all together to freshen up your look in 2014!

Emerald was so 2013. According to Pantone, the leading industry corporation of color, Radiant Orchid is 2014’s color of the year.  This is the perfect color to kick off the year; it’s bright, flirty and makes a bold statement!  The best way to incorporate orchid into your wardrobe is with a statement accessory, such as a bag. From a clutch, purse or tote, a colorful bag is the great everyday accessory. The wonderful thing about orchid is that it’s a great color year around. It will brighten up your winter and fall wardrobe and looks great with your colorful spring and summer outfits.

If you’re not ready to commit to a bag, try little pops of orchid in your wardrobe. A pump, dress or even a floral scarf will be an excellent way to show your fashion forward self this year. 2014 is a year of expression. Yes, we are among the giddy people who anxiously await Pantone's Color Of The Year announcement, which is emerald for 2013.  But, equally exciting, is seeing the creations made by the Sephora + Pantone Universe each year.  As you may know, the two companies collaborate on a makeup collection annually, in honor of the chosen color.  We weren't sure what to expect for emerald makeup...emerald lipstick?!  Instead, Sephora has created a beautiful collection of vivid eye makeup, as well as nail polish and makeup tools-- and we love it!  Definitely chic, and perfect for 2013.  TSS It Girl, Alyx, tried out the makeup brush set in the collection.  The verdict?  TSS approved... plus, brushes in a pretty color do seem to make everything more fun!
